About the Coach

Nathan Menard has dedicated more than 25 years to the study and practice of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Beginning his journey in 2000, he earned his Blue Belt under Professor Marcus Soares before joining Team Royce Gracie, where he trained extensively under Royce Gracie and was promoted to Brown Belt in 2010. In 2023, Ronald was awarded his Black Belt by Professor Chris MacCauley, a Team Jason Bruckmann affiliate.

Known for his patient teaching style and emphasis on practical, recreational Jiu-Jitsu, Ronald believes the art is about far more than competition. His approach focuses on skill development, self-improvement, problem-solving, and building meaningful connections through training. Whether you're stepping onto the mats for the first time or have years of experience, Ronald is passionate about helping students discover the many benefits that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has to offer.

"Jiu-Jitsu is a lifelong journey. There is always something new to learn, someone new to meet, and another way to grow." 🥋

LET’S MOVE

We're excited to share that DCS Haida Gwaii has entered the ParticipACTION Community Challenge, presented by Novo Nordisk, for a chance to win $100,000 for our community!

Throughout June, every walk, workout, class, hike, bike ride, dance session, and active moment counts. By participating in DCS classes and staying active, you're helping showcase the strength, health, and spirit of our community here on Haida Gwaii.

As a small, remote island community, opportunities like this can make a huge difference. Winning this challenge would help support local programming, improve access to recreation and wellness opportunities, and continue building a healthier, more connected community for people of all ages.

Thank you for being part of DCS and for helping us make Haida Gwaii one of the most active communities in Canada!
